We are currently experiencing a collective trauma as we live through the covid pandemic. This is causing us to experience a range of emotions similar to those of loss and grief, isolation, anger, sadness and physical pain. Humans are social beings, and we are unable to connect as we have been used to with others. It can feel overwhelming as we try and carry on with our life yet constantly aware that life is not normal. So much is out of our control and so we look too what we can control which might be small day to day activities or observations. We are being bombarded by messages to exercise, start a new hobby and stay active. However, it’s important to listen to our bodies and take the time to be kind and rest, to feel the sadness and loss. For a those who struggle with social anxiety and get overwhelmed with life, the isolation has come as a welcomed relieve yet, they might carry the guilt of enjoying a time when others are in pain and so many have died.

Whatever you’re feeling right now, remember that this time will pass and to do what feels right for you.
